I recently discovered the "What's new in Windows" tour. It's a lot like going to a new city and taking a tour except you don't move and its Windows. Great Idea! It was really informative about new features. I'll quote one of my favorite passages:

"Using Windows XP is simple. First, you'll notice the large area on the screen, called the desktop, and the narrow band at the bottom, called the taskbar. Everything you can do on your computer appears inside frames that are called windows. You can open as many windows at one time as you like—and resize them, move them around, or restack them in any order."

Dang, I'm glad I found this. Without it I would be completely lost on the new concept of "Windows" and the "Desktop." You're a lifesaver, Bill. This newfound love for good ole' XP has inspired an upcoming series on ThxBill: Paint, Stickykeys and Other Out-of-the-Box Favorites. Look for it in upcoming posts!

Hey Bill, take your time with Vista! I'm still loving XP!

<3 JV NG

Windows Genuine Advantage

Thx Bill, for the new Genuine Advantage check.

I must say, you may have outdone yourself with this one, ole' pal! Ever since the Windows Genuine Advantage program was released, I feel much more safe and secure using my computer. Now I know that my legal copy of Windows XP, that I purchased, was never replaced by a hacker with an illegitimate version. And, oh, if it somehow became illegitimate, it's good to know Microsoft is looking out for me and will guide me through the steps to acquire a valid license.

Before this new patch, I was always worried that I could be running a non-genuine version of Windows without knowing. It was also a wonderful idea to incorporate the Genuine Advantage check into WMP 11 setup and I have heard you will be doing the same with the next release of the Office suite. After all these authenticity checks, I hope Windows is finally convinced that my version is genuine.

It's good to know you got my back.

<3 JV NG

Windows Media Player 11

Thx Bill, for making WMP 11.

I would like to give you a pat on the back for making the latest media player faster, and less resource heavy! For those of us who don't have NASA computers, it really helps for times when we want to play the new Ashlee Simpson song (off CD or URGE) while browsing Myspace on IE 7.

The newest WMP release is so beautiful that it has inspired me to devote the next week of my life to replacing Album art and rating all of my 10,000 individual songs. I'm really excited to hear the "Favorites -- 80's Mix." It should be a blast!

I could have used a party mode and maybe some new fun visualizations, but I know your resources are limited, Bill, so I don't want to cause you too much stress.

Don't worry, Google isn't going to make an audio aplication too soon, so you don't have to worry about them.

<3 JV NG

P.S.
